It will be here before we know it, the Relics & Rods 47th Annual Run to the Sun, during which hundreds of classic, restored, and hot rod cars and trucks make the trip here from across the country for this five-day event.
This is a dream weekend for vehicle enthusiasts. The newest class 1977 and older 4 WD cars & trucks bring a new level of excitement to the annual Show & Shine.
The popular afternoon on Main Street will be Thursday, October 16th, from 5-8pm. The public is invited to stroll McCulloch Boulevard in downtown Lake Havasu City and admire the classic vehicles. This popular event is free to spectators.
The Show & Shine will be October 17th - 18th from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day held on the Bridgewater Links Golf Course at London Bridge Resort.
Admission is $15 for a two-day pass. Special close-up parking is available behind the London Bridge Resort Convention Center for $3. The London Bridge Model Boat Club will be back at the pond with the radio controlled boats. Be sure and see these enthusiasts demonstrate their boats on Saturday at 11 a.m. There are plenty of vendors for both the guys and gals to shop at, plus food and beer booths.

Event History
In 1975, local residents who had an interest in street rods, formed the first car club in Lake Havasu City. The original members were: Jim Cosmano, Del Criger, Ron Crone, Jim Lamartice, Larry Messick, Todd Flesner, Butch O’Connell, Steve Rench, Ed Wheeler, and Cliff Whiles.
(If you can remember this far back and these names are not correct or someone is missing, please notify “info@relicsandrods.com”). Jim Cosmano is credited with coming up with the Relics & Rods name.
It was initially Rods & Relics but was reversed when it was discovered that a Michigan car club already had that name. Larry Messick was the club’s first president based on his credentials as being the only member who had previously belonged to a street rod club.
During the first few years, the club met at various homes and locations around town including Del Criger’s Kings Clipper Barber Shop, Wings Best Western Motel, and the Chamber of Commerce. In the early days of the club, membership was limited to those having vehicles of model year 1957 or older. The only charter member remaining in the club all these years is Todd Flesner. Another current club member who joined just after the club was formed is Bruce Joy.
Founding member Steve Rench annually returns to see the show. Early club outings included beach parties, picnics, and “Mac Attacks”. A “Mac Attack” was a Sunday cruise to McDonald’s Hamburgers in Kingman, AZ. Can you imagine a 130-mile trip for a Big Mac? For the 1976 London Bridge Days Parade, the Relics & Rods entered a 1951 GMC truck which the club totally restored in two months, including building a 50’s style Drive-in on the back. The float included four roller skating car hops.
Current club outings are the weekly Saturday morning gathering at the American Legion, occasional garage parties at club member homes, local and out of town car shows, and semi-monthly dinners around town.
"Run to the Sun" is more than just a car show — it’s a full-throttle celebration of classic rides, community spirit, and unforgettable fun, all set against the beautiful backdrop of Lake Havasu City.

Take the driver’s seat in helping us move people and make the show a success! Each year, golf carts play a crucial role in transporting guests, volunteers, and staff across the grounds — keeping things running smoothly and comfortably. This year, we’re seeking generous sponsors to cover the cost of these carts. In return, we’ll purchase and install custom banners featuring your business on 50 % of the sponsored carts — giving your brand high visibility as it zips through the crowds, builds goodwill, and shows your support for a community-loved event. Don’t miss this chance to roll through the weekend with us in style and spirit — your support keeps our wheels (and the event!) in motion.
Put Your Brand at the Center of the Action – Sponsor the Main Info Booth on Hot Rod Blvd! We’re looking for a standout local business to sponsor one of the most high-traffic, high-visibility spots at the event — the Main Information Booth, located right in the heart of Hot Rod Blvd. Your support will help cover essential costs for this central hub, where attendees go for maps, schedules, lost & found, volunteer coordination, and more. It’s the first stop for thousands of guests — and the perfect place to spotlight your business.
